Consolidate the federal government's 92 social welfare programs - such as welfare and food stamps into a single debit account for needy individuals, which would save tax dollars, reduce red tape and bureaucracy, and also provide greater oversight to end potential abuses."

"Now I am going to read you some things Republicans are saying about their plans for the economy. After I read each statement, please tell me how convincing a reason it is to support the Republican candidate next November - is it a very convincing reason, a somewhat convincing reason, a little convincing, or not at all a convincing reason to support the Republican? American taxpayers spend hundreds of billions of dollars on more than 100 federal government programs for the poor. But the poverty rate is higher than at any point in 20 years. And with these new programs like Obamacare, more people will get stuck in the poverty trap. The incentives are upside down - when people try to get off of welfare programs or leave to get jobs, they're worse off, and it traps them and keeps them in poverty."
very convincing 26%
somewhat convincing 30%
a little convincing 11%
not at all convincing 32%
